MEMBERSHIP

HOW TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MEMBERSHIP:

Current members renewing their membership may mail their application and dues to the Club's mailing address:  Bigfork Gun Club  P.O. Box 529    Bigfork, Montana  59911

The following must be included for renewing members and new applicants:     (rev. 4/19/2012)

An application/waiver/release agreement, completed and signed.

Dues in the form of a check or money order. No cash please. 

Memberships Types:  (rev. 5/06/13)
INDIVIDUAL - Any individual 18 years or older - 1 card issued.   $60.00 Annual dues.
FAMILY - Husband &/or wife or significant other and their children under the age of 21 - 2 cards issued.  $80.00 Annual dues.  
Children 17 and under are not issued cards as they need to have one of their parents present with them at the range. Young adults, ages 18 to 20, could receive a card upon parents request and only if they are still living at home with that parent.   Birth dates must be supplied to the club along with their separate waivers. Adult Children 21 and over, even if they still reside at home, are considered an adult and would require their own membership.
LIFE -  Issued to individuals ONLY   - 1 card issued.  One time fee  $600.00.     There are NO Family Life Memberships.

Memberships are not transferable.  Renewing members have a 30 day grace period from expiration to renew without going through new member procedure.    (rev. 5/07/12)

Do not give out the combination to anyone.  

In an effort to maintain a safe shooting environment, membership applications are received and combinations given out only at monthly Board meetings. In addition, every NEW member must attend the next available regular meeting, show a Photo identification and attend a Safety and Range Orientation after the meeting. Expired memberships are treated as new applications. Meetings are held 6:00 PM on the first Monday of each month. To expedite the process you may download and complete the application/waiver/release agreement found below and bring it with you to the meeting. A waiver is required for every member, those with family memberships must submit an application/waiver/release agreement for each family member who will use our range.    (rev. 8/6/12)

Annual Memberships expire on the last day of May in the year following the year in which the membership was purchased.

The combination to the gate lock is changed every June first.  A member who joins during any month in 2012 has a membership that expires 31 May of 2013.   A member joining before 31 May will receive a gate key that will be good until 31 May and will be issued the new combination for the gate lock on June first.

Depending upon what month a member joins the Club, he/she might get more than 12 months or fewer than 12 months for his/her money, but he/she will get only one hunting season.

Election of Officers and Board Members takes place on the first Monday in June at 6:00 PM. All members are invited to attend Board meetings. 6:00 PM the first Monday of each month. There will be no shooting during Board meetings.

Regular shooting events: The 200 yard range is closed during these events.

Trap and Skeet, Sunday from 10:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM,  Tuesday from 2:00 PM until approximately. 4:00 PM (Daylight savings months only).

Bigfork Defensive Pistol practical shooting matches, Second Saturday of each month except winter.

USPSA practical shooting matches, Fourth Saturday of each month except winter.

SASS Cowboy matches Third Saturday of each month March through October.  The 200 yard range will be closed at noon on Fridays preceding this match to allow setup.

Information about matches will be posted in the clubhouse and on the Club Website (Google Bigfork Gun Club)

Hunter Safety instructors use the range twice a year on designated Saturdays.

Tuesdays mornings 9AM to 11AM -  This time is set aside for the occasional Range Maintenance. Volunteers working on the range will have precedence.   (rev 8/6/12)

Weekly Shooting Schedule:    (Rev. 8/17/12)

Sunday: Open shooting all day on 25, 50, & 100 Meter Range and Pistol Range.  The 200 Yard Range and Silhouette Range will be CLOSED from 10:00 AM until approx. 3:00 PM for Skeet & Trap.  Open shooting resumes on the closed ranges after this event.

Monday: Open shooting all day.  EXCEPT the FIRST Monday evening of each month, 6:00 PM until approx. 8:00 PM  for Board of Directors meetings.   Open shooting resumes after this event is finished if daylight remains. 

Tuesday: Open shooting all day on 25, 50, & 100 Meter Range and Pistol Range.  
The 200 Yard Range and Silhouette Range will be CLOSED from 2:00 PM until approx. 4:00 PM for Skeet & Trap (Daylight savings months only - Mar - Oct)  Open shooting resumes on the closed ranges after this event is finished if daylight remains.
  NOTE: Occasional Range Maintenance may take place between 9AM to 11AM, our volunteer workers will have precedence. If no maintenance is scheduled, the range is open for use as stated above.    (rev 8/6/12)

Wednesday: Open shooting all day on 25, 50, & 100 Meter Range and Pistol Range.   The 200 Yard Range, Skeet and Shot Gun Range will be CLOSED from 6:00 PM for Small bore and Silhouette competitions (Daylight savings months only - April - September) .  Open shooting resumes on the closed ranges after this event is finished if daylight remains.

Thursday: Open shooting all day on 25, 50, & 100 Meter Range and Pistol Range.

Friday: Open shooting all day on 25, 50, & 100 Meter Range and Pistol Range.   The 200 Yard Range, Silhouette Range and Skeet and Shot Gun Range may be CLOSED at noon on Fridays preceding Saturday events.    (See individual discipline pages above for detailed schedules)

Saturday: Open shooting all day on the Pistol Range.  The  25, 50, & 100 Meter Range will be closed the FIRST SATURDAY of each month (April through September) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for High Power Rifle Match.   The 200 Yard Range, Silhouette Range and Skeet and Shot Gun Range may be CLOSED the FIRST, SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH SATURDAY of each month until approx. 6:00 PM, March through October, for shooting matches.   (See individual discipline pages above for detailed schedules)   The 200 Yard Range, Silhouette Range and Skeet and Shot Gun Range may be CLOSED on other Saturdays for SPECIAL EVENTS.    (See Special Events page above for detailed schedules)   Open shooting resumes on the closed ranges after these events have finished if daylight remains.

There are no alcoholic beverages allowed on the Gun Club property at any time. Period, End of story.

BASIC SAFETY RULES VERY IMPORTANT

  1.  ALWAYS KEEP FIREARMS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.
  2.  ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT.
  3.  ALWAYS KEEP THE FIREARMS UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE.
  4.  KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND.
  5.  KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR FIREARM SAFELY.
  6.  BE SURE THE FIREARM IS SAFE TO OPERATE.
  7.  USE ONLY THE CORRECT AMMUNITION FOR YOUR FIREARMS.
  8.  ALWAYS WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION WHEN ON THE RANGES.
  9.  NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.  NO ALCOHOL IS
       PERMITTED ON OUR PROPERTY … PERIOD!
10.  NO SMOKING ON ANY FIRING LINE FOR SAFETY REASONS.
11.  STORE FIREARMS SO THEY ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE TO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS.
12.  BE AWARE THAT CERTAIN TYPES OF FIREARMS AND MANY SHOOTING ACTIVITIES
       REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
