SPRING 2008 NEWSLETTER

Spring is almost here, the snow is gradually disappearing, we spent more on snowplowing this year than budgeted, but, hey, we had more snow.

Following is the range schedule as currently configured.  For updates to the schedule go to the displines page.

On May 3rd, the Big Game Feed and Turkey Shoot will be as follows:

Turkey Shoot starts 9:00 AM;  5 Shooters per relay;  No choke tighter than full .040 inch.   This will be checked;   BFGC will supply 12 ga., 7 ½ shot shells.  One entry per person per relay, one shot per card.  Fee: $3.00 per person per relay ($15.00 pot, $7.50 to winner).   Distance 25 yards.   Winner will be the shooter with a pellet hole closet to the "X" and will receive 50% of the pot from that relay.  All target handling will be done by Club rangemasters.

Big Game Feed starts at noon.  Bring a Fur, Fish, or Fowl main dish along with a story of how you harvested the makings for this dish. Pictures are also welcome .Bring a side dish, salad, dessert, bread, etc.  BFGC will provide coffee, juice, utensils, plates and napkins.  You must RSVP so we can be prepared.  Call Terry Lindley 837-2479 or Steve Zabaro 837-0672

A reminder, memberships expire on the 31st of May. There is a grace period to renew which runs until June 30, 2008. Any member renewing their membership before June 30, 2008 can do so by mail, just send your check with any necessary updates such as address and phone number to Bigfork Gun Club, P.O. Box 529, Bigfork, MT 59911.

A member who does not renew their membership by June 30th will have to go through the new member procedure. This means attending a board of director's meeting.

The lock on the Club gate will be changed on June 1, 2008. Keys will be mailed out to members that have renewed their membership before that time.

If you have been on the Club website, you may have noticed that there are now two instructors giving classes that will enable a person to apply for a Montana concealed carry permit.

The organization meeting will be on June 2, 2008. All Members are urged to attend to vote for officers and board members. The Club needs participation by members in serving as an officer, board member, or range officer for events.

Chairman's Corner by Chairman Terry Lindley

"Spring is here and much is starting to happen at the Gun Club. Watch the schedule we have in the Spring Newsletter. A Grant is being put together to improve the Pistol range between the 100 yd, range and the shotgun range. We have to submit it by Nov. 2008, with results being announced if approved in 2009. Replacement of the existing Trap House is being looked at also. A Grant may or may not be submitted. The Trap machine in service is down. We need some one to take ownership and repair it. Parts were taken to keep it going and replacement parts need to be ordered. We need to get volunteers to sign up to help on standing committees such as; grounds, membership, all shooting events or member events. Member events will include the upcoming Big Game Feed and Turkey shoot on May 3, 2008 and a Xmas Party. June is coming up and elections of officers and board will be held. This is the time general members really have a voice. Change is good and if you want change, attend the meeting and vote for people you believe will best benefit BFGC.
